Why don’t we use UV?

2021-05-31

Every technician knows that ultraviolet light (UV) kills microorganisms*. UV has also been tested for Coronavirus**. And this has been reported***:

A South Korean company (Violeds) has developed new equipment that kills more than "99% of Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in less than a second". Tests performed by Seoul Semiconductor show that the equipment can be an effective way to disinfect airborne viruses, water systems, areas where COVID-19 patients are located and even the patient's room in a hospital.

May 21, 2021, the largest Swedish newspaper, Aftonbladet, writes about it as a new discovery by Swedish scientists.

Aftonbladet 19 May 2021

“Swedish researchers: UV-light kills the Cotonavirus.”
Will the authorities use it?

PS: Arthur Downes and Thomas P. Blunt published a publication in 1878 describing the sterilization of bacteria with UV. The Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1903 was awarded to Niels Finsen for his use of UV against, among other things, tuberculosis.
