Final death toll for 2020 in Sweden

2021-03-24

On January 22, Statistics Sweden compiled the death figures for 2020. In order for us to gain perspective, Statistics Sweden has here calculated the number of deaths per 100,000 during the year, and we can thus clearly compare with other years. There has been an increase in 2020. 9.4 per thousand of the population have died. Slightly higher than in recent years (since 2012) but lower than most previous years since 1989.

The table is based on Statistics Sweden's final statistics for the year 2020, which were published on February 22, 2021. These may be adjusted somewhat over the coming year but are certainly close to the actual death rates. The figures for previous years are based on Statistics Sweden's final observation register. The summary above is ordered from and prepared especially by Statistics Sweden. But can also be calculated from publicly available pages.
